You should not have to book a sales call to find out roughly what something costs. Every engagement below has a fixed shape, a stated duration and a real price range. We will tell you which one fits after one conversation — and if none of them do, we will say that too.
Small, paid first steps
Nobody should hand a six-figure project to a firm they met last month. Both of these stand on their own — you get a real deliverable whether or not you hire us for anything else.
Proof of Concept
A rough but working app you can put in front of your team, your board or a customer. Not production code — the point is to make the idea real enough to decide on. If it goes ahead, we know exactly what the full build involves.
Codebase & Release Audit
We read your code, your build pipeline and your store setup, then hand you a written assessment: architecture risks ranked by severity, release and security gaps, accessibility findings, and a costed plan to fix them. One week for a smaller app, two for anything substantial. The fee comes off the price if you go ahead with the work.
Getting an app made
Four shapes, depending on how much app you actually need. Most companies need less than they think at first, and it is cheaper to find that out early.
Feature Sprint
One meaningful addition to an app that already exists — a new screen or flow, a payments or subscription integration, an accessibility overhaul, a third-party service, or an AI-powered feature such as document and receipt scanning. Two weeks is one sprint and suits a contained feature; four covers something that touches the architecture. Priced by the feature, quoted before we start.
Compact App
A genuinely useful app that does one job well, on one platform or both. Fewer screens, no custom backend where an existing service will do. The right choice when you want to be in front of real users this quarter rather than next year.
Zero to App Store
The full build. Discovery and specification, native apps on both platforms, backend and API, developer account setup, store listings and review, subscriptions or in-app purchases, localization, and the first iteration after launch. This is exactly what we did on MyShoppr in sixteen weeks.
In-House Enterprise App
An app for your own staff rather than the public — field data capture, inspections, inventory, dispatch, internal approvals. Distributed privately through Apple Business Manager or your mobile device management, so there is no public store review and no listing to maintain. Integrates with the systems you already run.
When you have developers but need seniority
You do not always need a project. Sometimes you need the person who has made these decisions before.
Fractional iOS Architect
Architecture decisions, code review, written specifications, release ownership and mentoring for your existing developers — without the cost of a full-time principal engineer. This is the role Roberto held at Telus TV+ and Clearbridge Mobile, sold directly.
Senior iOS Contract Engineering
A senior iOS engineer on your team for the length of a project: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency, testing and release. Between us we have done this inside CIBC, HSBC, RBC, TD, Telus, Audible and Bose. Android and backend engineering available alongside where a project needs it.

We run our own infrastructure — this site and our email are on it. We are happy to run yours, or to set you up properly somewhere else and leave you the keys.

A fast, accessible, mobile-first site that you own outright — company sites, product and app landing pages, brochure sites. Built to load quickly and rank properly, with no monthly platform fee attached to it.
Hosting & Email
Website hosting and company email on infrastructure we operate and maintain: domain and DNS, certificates, backups, mailboxes on your own domain, and monitoring. One number to call when something breaks. If you would rather not have us in the middle, we will recommend a provider and configure it for you as a one-off instead.
Before you write to us
How do we start?
An email or a call, at no cost, where you describe the problem and we tell you which engagement fits — or that none of them do. If you have an existing app, an audit is almost always the right first step. If you have an idea and no code yet, it is usually a proof of concept.
Who owns the code?
You do, from the first commit. Everything lives in your repository under your account, documented as we go. There is no version of this where you are locked in because we hold something you need.
You are only two people. What happens if one of you is unavailable?
A fair question, and the honest answer is that we scope what we take on so that we can finish it. Your code and its documentation are yours throughout, and for larger builds we bring in engineers we have worked alongside for years — but a principal stays accountable for the work either way. Compare that to a larger firm, where the team on your project can change without anyone telling you.
Can you work with the developers we already have?
That is most of what the fractional and contract engagements are for. We review code, set the architecture, write the specifications and mentor your team. We are not trying to replace anybody.
Do you build backends, or only the app?
Both. Roberto designs and builds server-side systems and runs the infrastructure — MyShoppr's API, authentication and servers are his. For heavy data-platform or specialist web front-end work we will tell you when you are better served by someone else, and help you find them.
Are these prices fixed?
The ranges are honest brackets, not anchors. Once we understand the scope we give you a single fixed number and a schedule, and we hold to it. If scope changes mid-project we tell you what it costs before doing the work, never after.
Do you work outside the Greater Toronto Area?
Yes. We are based in Toronto and like being close enough to sit in a room with clients, but most of our work over the last decade has been with distributed teams. We work in English and Spanish.
