The interesting part: the AI runs on your phone
Receipt scanning is the kind of feature most teams solve by uploading a photo to someone else's server. We did not want to build a product whose business model depended on knowing what its customers buy, so the scanning pipeline — reading the image, finding the line items, parsing prices and totals — runs entirely on the device using Apple's VisionKit and its on-device Foundation Models. Nothing about a receipt leaves the phone.
For any client handling documents that carry client, patient or financial information, this is the same pattern, and we can build it into your app.
What the sixteen weeks covered
- Native front ends on both platforms with feature parity — SwiftUI and SwiftData on Apple, Kotlin with Jetpack Compose and Material 3 on Android.
- Backend, REST API and server infrastructure designed, built and operated in-house, with rotating-nonce authentication and per-device sessions.
- Subscriptions through StoreKit 2 and Google Play Billing behind a single shared interface.
- Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts set up end to end — listings, screenshots, test builds, review and release.
- Full localization in three languages from the first public build.
- Privacy by construction: no advertising SDKs, no behavioural tracking, and data a customer can export or delete themselves.
